April 2015 –

The crane who was also a giraffe, sailing aboard the Ocean Researcher I, seen here taking a rest. Spotted at the Pier-2 Art Center 駁二, Kaohsiung 高雄.

If I didn’t blog much in April, I’m at least happy to have finally published the book review of 《我的青春、我的FORMOSA》, and even mustered the energy to write a French version of the post, oh la la! If you’re studying Chinese or are already a Chinese literate  and looking for a friendly introduction to the recent history of Taiwan, I highly recommend it.

Looking up information, writing and translating used up more blogging bandwidth than expected, and so partly explains the slower activity around here, as of late. Continue reading April 2015 –

Bourdain(?) and Zimmern in Taiwan

[en] Ok, I give up, for now at least. Anthony Bourdain did make a stop in Taiwan during his days on the Food Channel, and if I am not delillusional, I remember once finding a footage of him in Taipei, but since I can no longer find it, I’m afraid I’m losing my head… so if anyone can find that said footage, and hence proving that I’m not crazy, please raise your hand!

In the meantime, let’s console ourselves (video below) with Andrew Zimmern who did shoot an episode of Bizarre Foods in Taiwan. Too bad he only stayed around the Taipei area as I think he could have discovered more bizarre food by checking out other parts of the island.

Know any other TV shows that featured Taiwan and its food? (Please don’t mention The Bachelorrette 😉 )

update 2012/06/12: some facebook pages have sprung up petitioning for Bourdain to come to Taiwan, but it’s already a done deal. Taiwan get ready for this summer! 😉
